This holiday season as you gather with family and friends, share in the spirit of the season giving back to your community.

There are many charities who can use volunteers throughout the season, and especially during the holidays. This is the perfect time of the year to show your appreciation and support, and the following are great places to give your time.

Nashville Rescue Mission-The Nashville Rescue Mission serves the homeless in the community, providing food, clothing, shelter, and programs for drug dependency and more. This year, donate your time to help feed the homeless a holiday meal.

Salvation Army-Christmas is an extra busy time of the year at the Salvation Army. Each year they host the Angel Tree Program, providing gifts and holiday meals to low income families in the area. Ring the bell for kettle collections, help families apply for assistance, sort and distribute holiday gifts, or adopt an angel to provide gifts for. There are many different volunteer positions available throughout the year.

Fannie Battle- During the month of Decemeber, volunteers ages 10 and up can go door to door singing Christmas carols and raising money for the Kid's Home,a center providing child care for low income families. What better way to get in the spirit of Christmas than with holiday music!

Second Harvest Food Bank-Get the family together for "Family Sort Night", a weekly event where volunteer's and pack backpacks and food boxes for the needy. Other opportunities such as delivering food, clerical and office work, and working in the warehouse are available to suit your needs.

Ronald McDonald House-This home away from home for families with children in Vanderbilt Children's Hospital is seeking caring and compassionate individuals to assist with the operations of this home. Training is provided. As a volunteer, you will offer courage and support to families during the difficult times they are facing. You will be responsible for ensuring all of their needs are met while at the RMH.

Nashville Cares-This organization provides support to individuals in the community living with HIV/AIDS. Volunteers are needed to deliver holiday meals to families in the area on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Project Homeless Connect- Providing services for the homeless is the mission of Project Homeless Connect. These services would be impossible without the support of volunteers. Donate your time and make a difference! You can assist with serving food, handing out toiletries, fund raising events, helping consumers obtain information and resources, and more.
